Piñata

Written by: Scott Mickelson

I owe my life to medical miracles
I was born handmade and sloppy
A smile like a mouthful of
coffee grinds
So I rode the little bus to school
It was the sad truth on those
dying afternoons
I slapped myself to keep awake

Sometimes when I speak
I mumble
It's alright I'm like a house that's haunted
I'm getting blessed all the time

Got arrested for stealing cigarettes
I don't know why I don't even smoke
Things sure came to screaming halt
There were bloodhounds in
the woods
helicopters overhead
I looked up and then somebody said
"boy, it's people like you who muck up the water"

Sometimes when I speak
I mumble
It's alright I'm like a house
that's haunted
I'm getting blessed all the time
Sometimes when I speak I mumble
It's alright I'm like a human piñata
Just hit me and see what comes out

I was only trying to stir the stew
is there nothing I can do to
get to you
Life ain't no research outing
